"Not Gonna Let It Get Me Down" is an upbeat tune reminiscent of Randy Newman about staying positive when the going gets tough. It was written for the "Through My Window" program for cancer patients from the Feel Beautiful Today nonprofit organization. The program is designed to provide an artistic outlet for cancer patients for encouragement and hope, as arts in health is known to improve quality of life and patient outcomes.
Some days everything can seem just fine
Then something comes along that crosses the line
I've been floating on this boat for so long and I still can't see the shore
Not sure I got what it takes to take anymore
So I grab an oar and start to row
I only wish I knew which way to go
To try to find a tiny patch of solid ground
So I can right this ship and turn it around
No I'm Not Gonna, Not Gonna Let It Get Me Down
Not Gonna, Not Gonna Let It Get Me Down
When I get the news it's not what I want to hear
Just want to shut my eyes and cover my ears
Nothing's going as planned I wandered way off track
The waves keep crashing in and the sky's gone black
Nothing's working and I want to restart
I want to scream I want to tear it apart
But you get what you get and there's only one shot
So I gotta go back to the one thing I got
No I'm Not Gonna, Not Gonna Let It Get Me Down
Not Gonna, Not Gonna Let It Get Me Down
Maybe I should just let go
Let go and wash away with the tide
But if I never give in
I know that I'll enjoy the ride
Not Gonna, Not Gonna Let It Get Me Down
Not Gonna, Not Gonna Let It Get Me Down
